I&#8217;m using Volkl skin pin Colltex skins, so I can&#8217;t leave my skis on and pull the skins in a transition. I just didn&#8217;t want to spend more $$ to buy race skins that have a standard tip attachment. I&#8217;m going to need to pull my skis off and remove the skins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m also going to leave my leashes on &#8212; it would be a nightmare scenario of I removed the leashes and a ski got away from me during a transition. That would be a big bummer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m just thinking: slow is smooth and smooth is fast.  Deliberate motions, focus on what I&#8217;m doing. I&#8217;m only racing myself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Skin to bootpack<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Put poles down or in snow<\/li><li>Unclip leashes<\/li><li>Pop off bindings (thumbs)<\/li><li>Skis together<\/li><li>Through loop, hook over shoulder<\/li><li>Grab poles, hammer<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bootpack to skin <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Poles down<\/li><li>Skis off pack<\/li><li>Clip leashes (one at a time)<\/li><li>Step into binding<\/li><li>Pull binding for uphill mode<\/li><li>Grab poles, hammer<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Skin to downhill<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use pole to unclip bindings <\/li><li>Poles down<\/li><li>Unclip leashes <\/li><li>Downill skin 1 : pull skin and put in jacket<\/li><li>Twist heel for downill and step in<\/li><li>Uphill skin 2 : pull skin and put in jacket <\/li><li>Twist heel for downill and step in<\/li><li>Grab poles : hammer<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Downhill to skin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use pole to unclip binding<\/li><li>Poles down<\/li><li>Pull skin 1 from jacket \/ put it on<\/li><li>Twist heel for uphill <\/li><li>Put ski down<\/li><li>Pull skin 2 from jacket \/ put it on<\/li><li>Twist heel for uphill<\/li><li>Put ski down<\/li><li>Step into both skis<\/li><li>Pull binding for uphill<\/li><li>Pick up poles : hammer<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mentally going through the transitions for Saturdays skimo race and I realize I&#8217;m going to be sloooowwww in a couple places.
