Before I could even make a decision as to what to do &#8211; I was in it &#8211; and I just decided to let go. I\u2019m normally very conservative trail running on technical descents, gingerly picking my way down.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2038\" style=\"width: 614px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisrivard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2657.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2038\" class=\"wp-image-2038 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chrisrivard.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2657-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2657\" width=\"604\" height=\"453\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I ran from the Tillamook Head trail in Seaside, up to Ecola State Park. Time was premium, so I turned around near the top. This would be a beautiful point to point run (Cannon Beach to Seaside).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This time I was carrying way too much speed and without a conscious decision, just turned off my analytical brain and just flowed. Super fast. I didn\u2019t fall or slip, but wow. It was an amazing feeling. I realized that the more speed you\u2019re carrying, the faster you pass the complex terrain &#8211; sounds intuitive, but it\u2019s much harder to act on that when you\u2019re in the mix.
